Bridal Tiara Trends

No doubt the most famous tiaras was worn by Princess Diana when she was married. Although many brides these days choose to wear a tiara on their big wedding day; tiaras have ben around for centuries and has evolved to become the elegant and graceful crowning glory that we adore today.

Tiaras are believed to have been originally worn in Ancient Egypt when they made circlets or crowns for the mummies when they were entombed. Greek Gods also wore head ornaments, or Diadem, when depicted in states.  The item was bound around the head like a halo made of foliage and flowers. The actual origin of the word “tiara” came from Ancient Persia where a tall jewel embellished tiara was worn by the king. Headdresses or crowns represented royalty or authority.  Napolean made good use of tiaras in order to announce the affluent nature and nobility of his family and even became a require item to be worn for his court and at all social functions.  Around the early 1800′s tiaras were becoming less about power or nobility and more about high fashion. This was around the time that brides began wearing jeweled tiaras on their wedding day.

When the tiara’s popularity reemerged in the 1950′s, with the help of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s; the tiara was no longer for the rich and the royal. By replacing gemstones with rhinestones, the tiara maintains all its beauty and elegance with an affordable price tag.  The rhinestone tiara has become a standard bridal accessory. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, adorned with crystals and pearls. They are also available with custom color rhinestones to compliment the wedding color theme.  A bridal tiara represents elegance and sophistication and is the bride’s crowning glory as she celebrates being a princess for a day.

When picking out bridal tiaras for your big day, you should think back to what the tiara has represented over the years and know that it has now become an amazing item to showcase beauty and really show off yourself as the centerpiece of your wedding.   Take the time to find something that will make the headpiece of your wedding ensemble just perfect so that when you do walk down the aisle you feel as beautiful as Princess Diana did as the entire world watch her wedding, because on that day, in that room, you will be just as important and special as she was.
